INDEPENDENCE: DEVELOPING AND SUPPORTING ESSENTIAL SKILLS
The staff at the Learning Center is committed to teaching and supporting individuals in gaining the skills and competencies to achieve their goals and maximum independence.
Skills are taught in small groups and in individual sessions using a variety of teaching techniques. A classroom area with computers is integrated into community settings. Some skills are taught and practiced in our Mango Court location.
PRODUCTIVITY: JOB SKILLS TRAINING AND APPRENTICESHIPS
Because everyone should have the opportunity for a meaningful job. Participants interested in employment are given meaningful community based opportunities to learn job skills, work ethics, and community service.
INCLUSION: MEANINGFUL PARTICIPATION IN THE KONA COMMUNITY
Small groups and a staff member participate in leisure, recreational, volunteer and learning activities in Kona based on the choices and interests of the individuals who attend the Learning Center. Interest groups may depart from Mango Court, the Thrift and Gift Store, or their homes for community-based activities.
Medicaid calls the services that The Learning Center provides Adult Day Health and Full Life provides Adult Day Health levels 1 and 2.
The Learning Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and is free to individuals who qualify. Participants can attend one to five days a week and Full Life provides transportation to and from the Learning Center for individuals who attend full days.
